Creative Image Sharing on Flickr.com

Flickr.com isn’t just for photo hobbyists – it’s also a useful online tool for small businesses and organizations to share and organize photos. The following link is to an awesome article/overview written by Charlottesville Media on how Flickr works and how it can best be used by organizations (and small businesses).

How NonProfits Can Get the Most Out of Flickr

My 12 year old daughter recently attended Winner’ Camp, a week-long Leadership Academy in Oahu designed to inspire and empower teens. The team at Winner’s Camp did a great job of keeping the parents connected to their children by sharing photos of daily happenings and achievements at Winner’s Camp. Each day an email would arrive with a link to a slideshow of photos of the previous day. I couldn’t help but think that Flickr.com would be the perfect tool for Winner’s Camp to use to gather photos from participants and their parents (there was a final parent day ceremony) and to archive photos for the ongoing camps. Emails could be sent to all participants with a link to the Flickr.com photostream and the photostream could be embedded into the Winner’s Camp website using a Flickr badge.

Through the use of relevant tagging of images in Flickr.com this online community also provides another means of exposure for small businesses for their targeted keywords.
