I was at the airport recently waiting for my luggage and as I was perusing the rack cards I noticed a client’s rack brochure. As I reviewed it I noticed that their website URL wasn’t anywhere on the brochure and I thought about what a missed opportunity that was.
So many travelers bring laptops, blackberrys and mobile devices with them on vacation and use them to research what activities to participate in. Travelers today have become a tad impatient with the “instant” culture of the web….they want to be able to do most everything online. A visitor interested in participating in my client’s tour might be lured by a competitors activity or tour simply on the basis of it was easier to find information online about the other activity.
Another BIG reason to make it easy for your customers to find you online is the steep commissions that activities desks charge for booking Kauai activities these days. It just makes good business sense for tour and activities operators to have a strong web presence and market it both online and off in print ads and brochures.
In addition to providing your website URL prominently on all printed materials, I would recommend a call to action on your printed material that offers a “special savings online” or “special internet pricing available” to encourage visitors to book direct. Online booking capability is also a factor in improving online conversions, visitors want the ease of researching and booking their tour online without having to wait for you to call or email them back.
