Small Business Blogging

Blogging can be a very effective way for businesses to reach out and connect with their customers when the goal is to create personal and purposeful interactions and to share relevant information.  I’ve recently entered the world of blogging and I am already seeing its value in many ways.

First of all, my blog provides me with an easy way to chronicle and archive the information and resources that I come across each day – that are valuable to me and to my clients who are interested in marketing their businesses online.  Now when a client asks me a question that I have already addressed in a blog post, I can simply send that client the direct link to that post. So on one hand blogging adds some time to my work week, but it also saves me time too!

Secondly, my blog provides me with a means to share more about who I am as a person and what my other interests are (I’m a mom, I love yoga and paddle boarding, photography, etc…) for any of my potential clients who may be interested in learning more about me before working with me.

My blog also provides me with another location (besides my website) to feature my latest projects and provide links to my favorite websites, etc.  I am using my blog primarily to provide information that small business owners (my target audience) can benefit from, saving them time in figuring out the answers to common internet marketing questions and offering valuable resources.  Some people who inquire about my services do not have the budget for an Emagine website.  Since my blog provides helpful do-it-yourself information, I am able to direct them to the blog for free valuable resources.  This helps me to create value from that potential customer, because even though we won’t be doing business together now, that person may share my blog with someone else who may end up being a client in the future.

By offering this free information, the blog also helps to further establish me and my company as an authority on the topics of website development and internet marketing within my community.  Those are the reasons I am using a blog to help promote my small business, you may find that starting a blog to connect with your customers in a more personal way is great for your small business too!
