Spam Filter Set Up

Here is some helpful information if your inbox is plagued by Spam.  Although Spam is an annoying part of having an internet presence, there are measures you can take to help fight unsolicited emails.  The servers that host Emagine websites and email accounts are protected by Spam Assassin which is a server-side software that detects and removes the majority of the spam coming into your email account(s).  Some Spam finds its way through the server-side spam filters so the following will help you establish spam filters within your web-based email control panel so that spam won’t take precious time out of your day.

In your WebMail account you can set up the Spam filtering settings for your email account.  Here’s how to do it:

  1. Login to Emagine’s Imanager WebMail access page
  2. Once you are logged in, on the left hand side click on “View/Edit Spam Filters”
  3. Make sure that the Spam Filters are Enabled – Click on “Enable Spam Filters” if they are disabled.
  4. If you click on “Change Mode” you’ll have the option to choose various levels of filtering.  I typically use default.  Choose “Proceed”.
  5. If for some reason email that you want to get through isn’t due to the spam filtering, use the “White List” to list the email address(es) you want to receive from – this instructs the server to always deliver messages from this email address to you.
  6. Use the “Black List” to add email addresses from which you do NOT wish to receive emails from.  If someone is continually spamming you just put their email address in the Black List area and the server will automatically refuse delivery of messages from this email address.

That’s all there is to it!  If you are using Outlook or any other email client, you can also take advantage of the spam filtering within those programs to help filter out recurring junk mail that makes it to your inbox.
