Press Releases aren’t just for your local newspapers and print publications anymore.  A well written press release featuring your targeted keyword phrases can provide exposure for your business as well as your website when submitted online.

When writing a press release make sure you consider and answer these questions:

-Who is my target audience

-What is important to them, how do I reach them?

-What are the problems/challenges that I can help them solve?

-What are their motivations?

- How can I entertain them and inform them at the same time?

-What content (description, testimonials, case study, etc.) sets me apart from my competition?

Reasons to submit a press release:

-Your business/staff received an award or formal recognition

-Your Company is celebrating a significant anniversary - 10 years in business, etc…

-Your Company has contributed to the community through donations, scholarships…

-Your Company has implemented new policies or installed equipment which support energy efficiency, environmental conservation or support the local community in some way.

- Your Company has new equipment, technology or services to offer.

-Your product or service has helped someone in a profound way or has been used and/or endorsed by an expert or celebrity.

DON’T FORGET to include a link to your website and/or blog for more information and if you refer to a product, content , download or a video that exists on your website, be sure to link to that directly as well.   Don’t be afraid to link to media - downloads, videos, podcasts, blogs, etc., these items give added value and interest to a press release.

Here are a few places you can submit Press Releases online:

PRWeb.com

PRNewsWire.com

BusinessWire.com

MarketWire.com

Once your press release has been published in the local paper, make sure to link to it from your website in your “About” section or even better in your Media/Press section if you have one.  Most newspapers and print publications also have an online archive of their stories and news, find your release online using the date is was published and link to it from your website - that way anyone that comes to your website can learn more about you and your business and see the archived press articles/releases.
