If you’ve started to use any of the social media sites online, you’ll notice that you can upload an image for your “avatar” so others can see a thumbnail of you anytime you post a review, a blog article, comment, tweet or favorite. With the increasing popularity of Social Media, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc., I’ve found myself creating individual profiles and adding my image (avatar) quite a few different times.
A Gravatar is a globally recognized Avatar, an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name whenever you post a comment, favorite, review, etc… The neat thing about the Gravatar is that you upload your image once an
d it will appear across all of the gravatar-enabled sites. If you decide you want to change your photo, you can do it within your gravatar account and it will update on all gravatar-enabled sites.
Creating a Gravatar is free and you can upload your avatar image, which could also be your company’s logo if you don’t want to use a photo of yourself. Within your account on Gravatar.com you can crop and/or size the image and then associate it with an email address.
For instance, you may want to use your photo for your personal email address and for your business email address use your company logo or an image of your product as your image/avatar to help with your branding efforts.

Aloha!
Thanks for the gravatar article: it reminded me to get more organized and finally upload some images and associate some email addresses (I had created my gravatar account a long time ago and simply forgotten about it!)
Thanks again, I enjoy your blog.
