If you have a Facebook (Business) Page I’m sure you’ve noticed the recent changes to the layout of your page. I admit, I joined with many in the industry in begrudging the changes, mainly because it meant that some of the customizations I had worked so hard in setting up for my clients (custom landing pages and tabs) would no longer work with the new timeline view. So having given myself a few months to get over it and let the dust settle – reminding myself that the only thing constant in this business is change, today I devoted some time to learning how to use some of the new features in Timeline view.
My first task item was to add my Small Business Internet Marketing Blog Email Sign Up form to one of the tabs in the Apps & Views toolbar (located just below the large cover photo). This is a great way to expose your Facebook fans to your newsletter/blog feed and to increase your subscriber list by encouraging your Facebook fans to sign up (if they haven’t already). Here is an example of what can be done…..
Click on the image above to view the Emagine Web Marketing Facebook, where you can click on the custom tab to see the Email Sign up. Here’s what it looks like…..
To make it easier on those of you using MailChimp for your email subscriber lists, here are the instructions I found for creating a custom Email Sign Up Tab for your Facebook Business Page.
Once you’ve followed the instructions provided here, then go to your Facebook account and go to “Edit Page”, choose “Apps” and then look for the MailChimp app that should be installed. Click on “edit settings” and a pop up will open and offer you the options to upload a custom photo for your tab icon (make your custom photo 111 x 74 pixels) as well as change the tab name to whatever you prefer. (See Facebook screen shot below).

Good luck and let me know how it goes!
