Don & Sandy McCalla who own a lovely ocean front vacation home in Poipu Beach, recently hired my partner Paul and I to create a website to promote their beloved vacation property.    The McCalla’s transformed this ocean front property and home into a stunning island oasis, where lucky families have enjoyed vacationing for over 7 years.

The Challenge:

The challenge on this project was figuring out which of the hundreds of professional images of the property to use on the website.  The property is absolutely stunning both inside and out and from every angle.  While the property was featured on their booking agent’s website, the copy and images just didn’t do this beautiful home justice.  My partner Paul designed the new logo for Hale A Kai and also provided a complete over haul of the copy promoting the property, both of which can be viewed on the new website.

Featured Web Project:

My latest website project was a refurbishment of the Kipapa Nursery website, one of the very first websites I created way back in 2001.  Kipapa Nursery owner, Scott Young has grown his business considerably since that time and the site needed to reflect the current stock of plants, palms and trees that Scott carries at his various nurseries on Kauai.

The Challenge:

One of the challenges in having a website for a nursery is that the plant stock changes on a continual basis.  I used dynamic Flickr Image Galleries for each of the Nursery sections which can be updated as needed by the website owner over time.

My latest website/blog project has been to re-design the website for Paul Reynolds of A Studio for Unlimited Ideas.   We combined Paul’s static website with his blog into one “super site”, improving the navigational structure so that visitors can easily find what they are looking for while improving the overall design consistency throughout all pages.

The Challenge:

The Unlimited Ideas site has a number of “themes” or focuses – there is Paul’s “slightly bent” and  entertaining illustrations cartoons and books,  logo development, graphic design work,  inspirational blog and a section for his yoga classes.  The challenge was to organize these aspects into an intuitive navigational structure and tie them all together through the threads of  “inspiration”, “illustration” and “yoga”.

Featured Web Project:

My latest website project is for the Kinipopo Shopping Village.  The website serves as an online hub for the businesses, restaurants and shops located in this small but bustling courtyard shopping complex on Kauai’s coconut coast.  Each business page integrates with  Google Maps so that visitors can get driving directions and see patron reviews.  Google Analytics is  installed for monitoring website performance.  Professional photography services were provided by Kicka Witte.

Featured Web Project:

My latest project was for The Hanalei Dolphin Restaurant website.  Completely re-designed and refurbished, the new website has dedicated pages for The restaurant, fish market and new sushi lounge.  All copy on the website has been completely “over hauled” and the Restaurant and Sushi Lounge pages include full menus as well as flash image galleries.  The site integrates with the Restaurant’s  Google Maps listing as well as TripAdvisor.com, where visitors can read patron reviews and feedback.  Google Analytics was also installed so that the business owner can monitor website performance.

If you live here or have visited Kauai, The Hanalei Dolphin Restaurant experience is a must do!  Any chance we get to go “north”, we always include a stop at the Hanalei Fish Market to get our fix of ceviche, croutons and their homemade Blue Cheese dressing.

The Challenge:
The  client didn’t feel that their previous design captured the essence of  their high-end sailing tours and wanted the website to feature more images of the sailing catamaran and Maui tours.  The website wasn’t ranking well for its targeted keyword phrases and the conversion rate for visitors to the site was low.  The client had already made a large investment in the website and the content management system but still wasn’t happy with the results.  The client is very active in social networks like Facebook and wanted to be able to promote their social networking pages through the website.  No revenue tracking was established.

Emagine’s Solution:
Re-design the website template utilizing the existing content management system.  Work with professional copywriter to edit all copy within site.  Reformat all tour pages to place online booking engine close to top of page.  Re-organize menu and navigation items for better usability.  Perform keyword research and optimize all pages for targeted keyword phrases.  Create unique image headers for every page.  Integrate client’s  live web cam and social network activity into the site.

The Challenge:

The owners of Healthy Hut wanted to have more online exposure for their small business  and be able to interact with their patrons to help them eat and live healthier and save money! The client wanted an  interactive electronic means  to share healthy recipes with patrons featuring grocery items available at the store as well as to highlight local, community news and events.

Emagine’s Solution:

Emagine provided Healthy Hut with a website/blog solution that allows the business owners complete control over the updating and adding of content through WordPress, an open source content management system.   Visitors to the store or the website can subscribe to the Healthy Hut email list, to be notified of weekly store specials and updates to the blog.
